a green urban environment makes healthy people over the past few years, kensington residents have been watching, with alarm, our trees slowly dying. experts from city parks have assessed them and declared them reaching the end of their lifespan. most were planted in the early 1900s and, not being indigenous to south africa, are now unable to continue to sustain themselves. this means that our magnificent tree canopy, for which kensington has always been famous, is slowly disappearing. kensington currently has one of the best air quality levels in johannesburg, and our trees are one of the key reasons for that. replanting the lost trees is becoming an urgent task for kensingtonians: we want to secure our clean air, restore our beautiful green suburbs and restore kensington to be a thriving suburb for families to happily raise their children in. the joburg growth circle is a non-profit organisation that has been formed by concerned kensingtonions to address this challenge. in partn
