joe reitz photography serves the greater chicago area with professional commercial photography and portrait services. it recently occurred to me that if i were to retire at the average age of 65 (which is sliding ever onward towards 70+), i will have spent 11 cumulative years of my life earning my living. 11 years. that’s not counting the 3 years spent commuting, and assumes an unrealistic 40-hour work week. i want to live and die for bigger things than just a paycheck. i need to love how i spend my waking hours. i need to make the work play for mortal stakes. so, i leverage my background in b2b marketing and commercial photo & video production against my desire to do some good in the world. i earn a living, love what i do, and am free to live and die for those bigger things. it's like robert frost said in "two tramps in mud time:" but yield who will to their separation, my object in living is to unite my avocation and my vocation as my two eyes make one in sight. only where love and n
