Joel Stephens

joel’s work derives from drawing but processed in an abstract form. through the observation of every day life he strives to bring attention to previously overlooked visual obscurities and display them in the formal discourse of graphic design and fine art. joel works in a range of different media; print, abstract mark making, moving image, photography, digital design, drawing and music. earlier work has been somewhat minimalist in style but he is now exploring more experimental ideas. he has worked on a series of film sets which have been highly demanding; his job details have varied from production to production, from making cups of tea to assisting a camera operator, to improvising clapper boards. one such film starred eva green, sam riley and ryan phillipe. at the beginning of the 3rd year joel obtained work placement at emi records where he worked on artwork for musicians such as lilly allen, alfa beat, jullian vellard and alessi’s ark. currently joel is working as a free lance gra
