belgian born and raised, i am a former filmmaker turned photographer and living on the dutch / german border now. having learned my craft with shooting on film and spending many hours in the darkroom, i now use digital cameras and software to create my work. but that hasn’t changed my approach to my photography in the way i see a portrait or a landscape. the magic of a photograph for me still very much lies in the moment of the capture and the shaping of light. after the photoshoot, i try to convey the feeling i had when i looked at the subject or scenery for the very first time.for me, a great photograph is when i successfully captured the essence of the situation. it is the emotion that is important.
