dr. burton is a consultant in forensic and environmental pathology and medicine. he opened his office burton & associates in alpharetta, georgia in 2000 after retiring from being the chief medical examiner for dekalb county and senior consulting pathologist for cobb, gwinnett and paulding counties in the state of georgia. dr. burton held these positions since 1978. before these positions he also served as deputy chief medical examiner for dade county, miami florida january 1974 to 1978, and then was appointed associate chief medical examiner for fulton county, atlanta, georgia since july of 1974. dr. burton received his b.a. from emory university in 1967 and continued his education as an m.d. from emory university school of medicine in 1971. he passed his forensic pathology board in 1977. he is qualified to offer expert testimony in the areas of occupant kinematics, biomechanics, and any type of trauma or death occurring in events of all types. he has testified all over the united st
