the journal of african medical students (jams) is an open-access, peer-reviewed scientific journal that seeks to publish original research, reviews, commentary, case reports and other relevant researches in health. the jams was created in 2022 as the official journal of the federation of african medical students’ associations (famsa). famsa is an independent, non-political federation of medical students associations in africa founded in 1968 as a nigerian, ghanaian, and ugandan initiative to foster the spirit of friendship and cooperation among african medical students. the jams shares the scientific outcomes and experiences of medical students in africa as well as recently graduated physicians (<3 years into practice) and other allied-health professionals in africa. the objective of the jams is to be the leading platform for early-career african medical researchers to share their research findings and build scientific research collaborations, opportunities, and capacities.
