Jordan River Foundation

the jordan river foundation (originally provo-jordan river parkway foundation) was established in 1979 to assist and cooperate with state and local government in the establishment and maintenance of a public parkway along the jordan river, for the development of recreation, water conservation, flood control, reclamation, and wildlife resources, and to actively generate broad public support and community interest. in 1980 the irs granted the foundation 501(c)(3) status. for over 36 years jrf has funded conservation, trail development, signage, natural areas restoration, trail and river clean-ups, and education. the jrf has also functioned as a coordinating body to assist with the promotion and development of the parkway concept and especially foot trail completion and signage. in 2010 the jordan river commission was created by an interlocal cooperation agreement as a new government agency to serve as a technical resource to local communities, and to provide a forum for coordination of
