i offer proofreading services specialising in academic dissertations, theses and journal submissions in stem, and also working with fiction aimed at children or adults. as a north east proofreader, i often hear people saying, “i know what i want to say when i write something down. it’s obvious what i mean. well, it is to me…” but in reality, does this really make sense to their audience? sometimes, when re-reading an email later, an ambiguity or inconsistency leaps off the page. for a longer piece of work, or a formal communication, a second pair of eyes can be helpful before letting your hard work loose on your target audience. this is where proofreading and proof-editing become invaluable and why i decided to offer a proofreading service here in the north east of england.
