Kalamazoo County Poverty Reduction Initiative

the pri focuses the efforts of neighborhood organizations, stakeholders, and private enterprises into programs that build towards long-term reductions in the poverty rate. we advocate for change that will strengthen our community and provide resources to community activists to help them achieve their goals. our programs and priorities: pri actively advocates for local, state, and national legislative initiatives that improve the lives of those in poverty. we act as a source of knowledge and analysis for invested community members, and provide the information that they need to succeed in their goals. through our bankon program, we bring together clients, community organizations and financial institutions to help kalamazoo’s working families keep more of their own money. we lead project connect, a program that brings together more than 50 services providers twice a year to provide constructive help to thousands of kalamazoo area residents in need. we organize poverty simulations
