Kaledonistit – Hart House Finnish Exchange
kaledonistit is the oldest student exchange in both finland and canada, providing a three-month immersion in finnish or canadian culture through an extensive orientation, fellowship with alumni of past exchanges and a ten-week work period. the program is organized between the university of toronto and three different universities in helsinki: aalto university, the university of helsinki and hanken school of economics. in canada, the program is known as the hart house finnish exchange. the exchange operates on a four-year cycle, whereby a group of students travels in one direction or the other every two years. in the summer of 2015, our group of eight finnish students travelled to canada for a two-week orientation tour and a ten-week work placement; in the summer of 2017, we hosted a group of six canadians who worked in finland.
