kalpana chawla center for space and nano sciences (kccsns) kolkata is a non-profit academic organization registered under the west bengal societies registration act in the year 2004. the explosion in research and application in the field of space nano science and technology in this century in the world in general and asia in particular will generate opportunities for buding scientific talents. unfortunately the universities in eastern and north eastern india failed to look into this aspect seriously. a large number of students still opt for careers in basic science and technology this region. if they do not get employment or opportunities it is normal that they will be forced to opt for other avenues and sectors. on the other hand if we can provide opportunities which will allow them to survive and sustain their interest then quite a number of excellent and good students could be retained in the science and technology sector. this center was conceived by scientists and faculty members
