Italian Olympiads in Informatics

the ministry of education and aica, with the primary objective of stimulating the interest of young people in information science and information technologies, manage the organization of the italian olympiads in informatics (oii). the oii was born with the intention of selecting and training, every year, a team of athletes to represent our country at the "international olympiad in informatics" (ioi), organized by unesco since 1989. italy has participated for the first time, in an experimental form, in the ioi of 2000. starting from 2001 the participation has become stable thanks to the coordination operated by a specially constituted organization. since the 2004 edition, ioi have been sponsored by the ministry for innovation and technologies.
