oweyaa is a platform-based career development service for military personnel transitioning out of the military, their spouses and veterans. as a social enterprise, we aim to curtail our military beneficiaries’ barriers to entry into the civilian job market such as prevailing assumptions about veterans, mismatched skill sets, and lack of civilian job experience. we solve this problem by fostering opportunities for veterans to gain civilian-based work-experience and by connecting them to startups, private and public sector companies/organizations to hire them. each year, approximately 250,000 service members leave the military. with the armed forces draw down and the army officially announced a downscaling of 60,000 plus soldiers, the direct market will see a larger than normal rise in the next 24 months. the downscaling of active duty service members creates a critical problem that is important to be addressed. oweyaa solves this problem and leverages this opportunity to help businesses
