a bunch of us (iit, dce, insead, nitie, iim alums) have gotten together, to help tackle the problem of oxygen shortage in india, starting with worst hit areas (delhi ncr) in this second wave of the covid-19 pandemic. based on multiple discussions with leaders in medical fraternity and other sectoral experts, we have learnt that oxygen concentrators are effective at treating patients with mild to moderate symptoms (particularly 85 <spo2 concentration <94). with this learning and with an idea of ensuring that no lives are lost due to lack of oxygen supply at home, we are procuring approx. 800 concentrators in the first phase for loaning/leasing out to individuals, institutions, completely free of cost. we plan to scale up our efforts programmatically backing on our learnings from 1st execution and ability to raise adequate funds. to further fuel this initiative, expand our outreach and maximize the social impact, we have collaborated with rotary international and sambhav foundation.
