jbd new york is a women’s lifestyle brand launched by the brands founder vijay paintal. vijay was born and raised in new york where his family has been in the apparel trade since 1978. growing up vijay and his parents would take several trips to india, where their manufacturing base is located and also began spending a significant amount of time in their showroom in new york city. inevitably he developed a love for all things fashion and learned the ins and outs of the garment industry. he knew very early on that this is was a business he would like to one day enter into himself. after 5 years of working full time in his family business vijay decided the time was right to expand and launch a new division with. his goal was to showcase how far indian manufacturing has come in the past decade and at the same time feature some of their oldest crafts in a whole new light, while producing a fashion forward line using the highest quality fabrics and printing processes to rival products from
