qabayan radio station is the first and only filipino radio station here in qatar with commercial broadcasting license under tagalog channel wll which was granted on 4th of december 2018. it went on air on march 25, 2019 – a considered milestone for the filipino expatriate community in qatar. it was formed to engage and entertain filipinos, local residents and other international communities listeners in qatar. moreover, it is established to promote music and entertainment with a filipino touch that is always on trend, timely & relevant and which is a hybrid of western & oriental influence. therefore, the radio’s name - qabayan radio which exudes the fusion and adaptability of filipino culture to the rest of the world and to its country of origin – qatar. qabayan radio is spelled in a way to exhibit both qatar and kabayan – “kabayan,” being a word used by filipino expat to affectionately call his fellow countrymen abroad.
