the current economic landscape in alberta canada has allowed us to recognize an opportunity for consolidation of existing service suppliers (horizontal integration) within certain sub-sectors. we are confident that we can improve their efficiency and effectiveness, by focusing and aligning their strategies, accelerating their growth and improving their return on capital. we will not discount synergies that may also be achieved by vertical integration, i.e. bringing different components of the supply/value chain under a common management/ownership key components of the midstream service sector remain dominated by small independent contractors. many have taken good advantage of the growing demand for their skills, services and products over the past 5-10 years to develop their organizations. some have excellent scope for further growth – both organically and via m&a. others have reached maturity and are now looking for an exit.
