qiu zhai art studio features a collection of contemporary chinese art. this collection based on the significance of an artist’s contribution to the development of chinese ink painting from the late 19th century to the early 21st century. many chinese artists in keeping up with modern trends in art accepted western art influences as part of the “modernisation” of chinese painting while others continued to move systematically towards the growth of chinese painting since the creation of a new china - both contributing in their own significant ways to what many consider as a ‘golden age’ in chinese art history. by collecting art from this period, we have captured how modern and contemporary chinese art history coincided with unprecedented changes in china not seen for a thousand years - with chinese ink painting experiencing remarkable changes during this turbulent period in history.
