1996 – for the first time in the world, romanian research scientists discover how to remove deuterium from water, not knowing the health benefits that are to follow. the functional water is classified as deuterium depleted water (ddw) containing five times less deuterium than the 150 parts per million (ppm) that regular water has. 2002 - the unique romanian patented technology starts producing a few tons of ddw per month and the first customer is a hungarian company (hyd llc), which starts to commercialize it under the brand known as preventa. 2006 – mecro system srl purchases the ddw technology from the government-owned research center and makes an investment of $1 million to double the production capacity. 2008 – mecro system launches qlarivia, a functional water brand with 25 ppm of deuterium as compared to 150 ppm found in regular water. 2019 - a team of experienced fmcg executives comes together with the vision of expanding qlarivia beyond the 52 countries it has sales in, m
