at quantech biosystems, we have built a transilluminator based on open source designs with multiple applications in a biotechnological laboratory workflow. these include visualization and initial screening of microbes, automated colony counting, and assistance in gene editing microorganisms with screening and verification methods. part of the project is to create a cloud platform solution which allows users to have seamless interactions between the platform and the hardware - a non-invasive and hands-off approach to gathering the necessary data in real-time. this allows researchers to monitor their running experiments and extract data from outside the laboratory. having all users contribute metadata to a cloud platform, it is possible to start applying statistics and computer vision to determine precision of experiments, which is not currently done in the life science industry. with enough data, the platform can serve as a database of biological data for researchers to utilize in rese
