beginning their journey with one creative idea... to transform one of their favorite games into a beautiful and functional home centerpiece. it was with rea's favorite childhood game, chess, that together the two began to transform the norms of the traditional chessboard. in 2012, partners andrea rea and melissa jachetti started building chess boards out of their 450 sq. ft. studio in downtown long beach, ca. noticing a lack of individuality and personality in the typical chess boards, they sought out to change the face of chess! beginning with tabletop boards, rea and jachetti had a few successful kickstarter projects, but were dissatisfied with the lack of portability the board presented to the person on the go. they wanted to create a product that was not only easy to carry, but was also affordable, durable and customizable to each person's individual sense of style. with a deep passion for design, the two have successfully interwoven their unique styles together, creating the perfe
