excelsior werd opgericht op 23 juli 1902 door een groepje kralingse vrienden dat in die tijd al regelmatig bijeenkwam op woudestein om met elkaar te voetballen. er is sinds de oprichting een heleboel gebeurd in de historie van excelsior. de club wordt vaak omschreven als ‘sympathiek, gemoedelijk en gezellig’. excelsior mag dan al lang niet meer de club van oud papier zijn, de sfeer is ondanks het gemoderniseerde stadion amper veranderd. bij excelsior kun je nog steeds in een gezellige ambiance genieten van leuk voetbal. excelsior is onderscheidend door het kleinschalige, toegankelijke karakter. er bestaan geen skyboxen of andere ruimtes, maar alle sponsors lopen door elkaar in één ruimte. hierdoor is het vele malen makkelijker om contacten te leggen voor bedrijven. dit gebeurt niet alleen tijdens de 17 thuiswedstrijden, maar ook zeker tijdens de bijeenkomsten die georganiseerd worden door de excelsior business club. dit zijn 12 evenementen per jaar die allemaal in het teken staan van n
