scc broadband was established by traolach sweeney, peter sweeney and pat casey with mentoring by mr. harvey watts. our aim was to provide broadband in south kerry in order to stimulate enterprise in a rural and disadvantaged area. large internet service providers (isps) refused to come into the area because of the cost involved and the difficult terrain and the low population. we started small and have built up to a situation today where we have in excess of 200 large and small businesses. we are proud to have provided the infrastructure for both the domestic and business markets particularly those who wanted to work from home or operate a business in rural ireland. what started out as a small provider in sneem village, now covers most of the iveragh and beara peninsulas and thankfully continues to expand. the entire infrastructure, that the scc network consists of, has been built from scratch and is owned by scc broadband. our connection to the outside world is provided by multiple ca
