there’s a lot of emphasis placed on professional and personal development- and for good reason! it allows us to make changes, to be challenged, and find happiness in our careers and lives. the thing is that we get the development formula wrong. we believe that if we just do something different, we’ll get different results. as a society we’re obsessed with “doing” and so the first question people tend to ask themselves when unhappy in their job is, “what is it that i want to do?” these efforts might bring us relief for a short period of time but eventually we end up feeling the same way we did when we started. the reason for that is our thoughts about ourselves and our world create our feeling which then create our actions. if we want to create true change we can’t just skip to the last part of the equation, we must go back to the root of it all: our beliefs. the thing is that the question we should really be asking ourselves is “who is it that i want to be?” who you are is the
