the san luis valley renewable communities alliance is a citizen supported nonprofit organization formed in 2009 to educate, engage and advocate for energy democracy and community-based alternatives to industrial renewable energy development that ensures self-reliance and a resilient future for the san luis valley. we bring together a broad spectrum of views – ranchers, farmers, solar energy experts and enthusiasts, business leaders, local government officials, professionals, artists and retirees, from the san luis valley, southern colorado and beyond who agree that its important to make a rapid and cost-effective transition to renewable energy, that our rural landscapes, sense of place values, productive ranch and farmlands, cultural resources, watersheds and ecosystems deserve the highest protection as vital resources to us all, and that renewable energy resources should be developed for the benefit of all of our communities, not just private corporations and the utility industry.
