nothing should get in the way of normalising the lives of ostomates globally. the idea for u-can started late 2019 when steve sterling underwent colon cancer treatment, which led to him living with a temporary ileostomy for 6 months. steve’s experience with the management of his stoma and the pouch emptying process led him to believe there had to be a better way. with his background as a physiotherapist and a passion for disruption steve set about creating his own solutions to make his life easier and more “normal”. things really stepped up a gear when steve became a resident at ceri (centre for entrepreneurial research & innovation) and he started working with rod houston (former ceo in residence at ceri). rod and steve are now partners in the business with a vision to normalise the lives of ostomates globally.
